Nearly three years after releasing the Chevy Voltage, General Engines has added a company cousin: the 2014 Cadillac ELR. Cadillac's marketing corps will take discomfort to differentiate the ELR from the Voltage, but the two cars will share the same manufacturer and powertrain: a T-shaped 16-kilowatt lithium-ion battery power, a 111-kWh motor unit (149 horsepower) and a 1.4-liter four-cylinder motor that's used mainly as a creator.

The ELR, however, offers two less gates than the Voltage. It's almost 10 inches wide longer and a couple inches wide broader than the Voltage (but trips on basically the same wheelbase), and the swoopy vehicle information reduces down on internal headroom. The ELR uses different revocation elements, a little bit larger stopping system and a complete package of gadgets and precautionary features. Especially, the ELR also is about 300 pounds more than the Voltage and is predicted to achieve a little bit less efficiency; GM reports 35 kilometers of electrical powered variety for the ELR, three kilometers short of the Volt's ranking.
The ELR's raked information and stubby back outdoor patio is a simple progress of Cadillac's distinct new ATS sedan, maybe even a sign at what the ultimate ATS-V vehicle might look like. Cadillac statements the ELR can cover more than 300 total kilometers with a complete 9.3-gallon gas container and complete battery power charge. Range and gas mileage could improve if GM provides the ELR with a smaller three-cylinder motor under consideration, although that's unlikely to happen before 2015.
Charging the ELR should take about 4.5 hours from a 240-volt store. The ELR will also earn a popular AT-PZEV pollutants ranking, making it qualified for single-passenger travel in California's carpool paths.
